Water is life, and Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) continues to prioritise access to reliable, sustainable water supply for communities across the district.
On 25 August 2026, the official site handover of the Ga-Broekman Water Supply Project took place in Broekman Village under Blouberg Local Municipality, with MMC for Infrastructure Services, Cllr Maite Mohale, leading the handover on behalf of Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo.
Cllr Mohale introduced NYC Water & Mining as the appointed contractor and Zakumi Consulting Engineers as the consultant for the R8.46 million project.
The six-month project included the construction of approximately 6km of water pipelines, 100 RDP standpipes, as well as the equipping and electrification of two boreholes, among other infrastructure works. The project will also augment the existing water supply in the area.
Community members welcomed the project, highlighting its importance in improving access to this essential resource while creating local employment and economic opportunities during implementation.
The project reaffirmed CDM’s commitment to investing in water infrastructure that responds to community needs and contributes towards improved service delivery and a better quality of life.
