The Capricorn District Municipality (CDM), together with Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality, convened a Council Imbizo at Mahlatjane Community Hall on 11 June 2026, bringing government closer to the people and strengthening direct engagement with residents.
Prior to the Imbizo, the CDM delegation led by Executive Mayor Cllr. Mamedupi Teffo paid a courtesy visit to Kgoshi Setlamorago Thobejane at Moshate wa Mafefe, reaffirming respect for traditional leadership and continued cooperation in community development efforts.
The Imbizo was attended by key leadership figures including the Executive Mayor of Lepelle-Nkumpi Municipality Cllr. Dr Merriam Molala, CDM Council Speaker Cllr. Kholofelo Lehong, the Whip of Council Cllr. Matome Masoga, as well as councillors and officials from both municipalities.
Community members used the platform to raise pressing service delivery concerns affecting their daily lives. Key issues included the need for RDP housing, lack of community halls, poor road infrastructure, water supply challenges, shortage of local clinics, inadequate street lighting, and rising crime levels.
Councillors engaged directly with residents, providing feedback on ongoing projects and outlining plans aimed at addressing some of the highlighted challenges. They further assured the community that all remaining matters will be escalated to the relevant departments and stakeholders for urgent attention and follow-up.
The Imbizo reaffirmed the commitment of both CDM and Lepelle-Nkumpi Municipality to Batho Pele principles, accountability, and inclusive governance—ensuring that no community is left behind in the pursuit of improved service delivery and development.
