The Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) Portfolio Committee for Strategic Executive Management Services (SEMS) recently conducted an oversight visit to the Mafefe Thusong Service Centre as part of its ongoing commitment to monitoring and strengthening service delivery within local communities.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the functionality of the facility, engage with officials and stakeholders, evaluate the quality of services provided, and identify challenges that may be affecting efficient service delivery. The committee also sought to gain first-hand insight into the operational needs of the centre and explore opportunities for improvement.
As a key government access point, the Mafefe Thusong Service Centre plays an important role in bringing essential services closer to residents, particularly those in rural areas. Through the centre, community members can access information and services from various government departments, reducing the need to travel long distances to urban centres.
The oversight visit reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to advancing the principles of Batho Pele (People First), which promote accessible, responsive, transparent, and people-centred public service delivery. By monitoring the performance of service centres and engaging directly with stakeholders, the municipality continues to work towards improving service standards and ensuring that communities receive quality government services.
CDM remains dedicated to strengthening intergovernmental collaboration, enhancing service accessibility, and ensuring that Thusong Service Centres continue to serve as effective platforms for community development and citizen empowerment.
