The Capricorn District Municipality, in collaboration with Molemole Local Municipality, the Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, the South African Police Service, and other relevant stakeholders, conducted a food safety blitz in Mogwadi (Dendron) on 24 March 2026.
The operation focused on ensuring that local food outlets comply with required health and safety regulations.
During inspections, several violations were identified, including the sale of expired food products, as well as repackaged and unmarked cleaning materials that posed potential risks to children. Some establishments were also found to be non-compliant with fire protection standards in terms of the South African National Standard 10400 Part T. In addition, certain businesses were operating without valid Certificates of Acceptability.
Authorities indicated that corrective measures will be enforced to ensure compliance, safeguard public health, and protect consumers.
