The Portfolio Committee on Finance embarked on a site visit to Alldays Town under the Blouberg Local Municipality to assess the progress made in implementing the Prepaid Water Smart Meter System across households and businesses.The visit was led by the Chairperson, Cllr Thomas Matonzi. The committee was guided through various parts of the town and its extensions. The project has reached a 95% completion rate, with 848 smart water meters installed and fully activated on the Capricorn District Municipality’s prepaid vending system.
During the visit, the committee received a detailed briefing outlining the progress achieved to date, challenges, and interventions put in place to address these challenges and ensure the project’s successful completion. The visit took place on 24 October 2025.
