Sethwethwa Secondary Schools was named Oral winner at the Capricorn District Municipality Disaster Management School competition. The school won R30 000 cash prize for the Oral category. The competition was held on 13 February 2020 at Polokwane Royal Hotel.
Sethwathwe Secondary School from Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality gave a sterling presentation during the oral session of the essay that which they had submitted for the competition. According to the judges, all schools were winners given the work that they had put into the project, however in the oral session Sethwethwa managed to give a convincing well thought presentation on the sustained disaster management school programme.
Sethwethwa walk away with R30 000 cash prize, a trophy, medals and certificates. Learners representing the school namely Thiona Reabetswe Madisha, Khomotso Maake and Kgomotso Mokoena received school bags with stationary pack, memory sticks, certificates and medals. The learners were under the guidance of Educator M.A Shadung.
The competition was held in partnership with the South African Weather Service, South African National Space Agency, National Disaster Management Centre and Department of Education Capricorn District.
