The Acting Executive Mayor, Cllr Sammy Selamolela engaged with the community of Senwabarwana on the handing over of the prepaid water smart meter project.
As part of addressing the challenges raised previously, the Acting Executive Mayor said, the municipality has decided to have a direct line supplying Desmond Park and one line that will supply Senwabarwana township directly. The handover of smart meters is to ensure that the incorrect billing through old meters is corrected and replaced by new smart meters.
“The municipality is also in the process of resolving the decentralization of operations and maintenance of water to improve on the response turnaround time,” added Cllr Selamolela.
The community members were satisfied that the municipality was able to share plans and decisions on how to address the challenges raised. They welcomed the decision to start with the smart meter installation.
