Older Person’s Dialogue held at Moletji Moshate

The Executive Mayor, Cllr Mamedupi Teffo joined the MEC for Department of Social Development, MEC Dickson Masemola at Moletji Moshate where older persons were brought together for an Older Person’s Dialogue on 03 October 2022.

MEC for Social Development Dickson Masemola encouraged the elderly to also remember to cultivate traditional food in their backyards, as most of them fight illnesses, food such as millet, and this is good for their health.

“Regarding your livelihood and familyhood, let us not despair, let’s continue to fight to bring our children back to the old ways of doing things, let’s teach them to abstain from things that don’t need them,” said Masemola.

The Executive Mayor of CDM, Cllr. Mamedupi Teffo, thanked “The Golden Boys and Golden Girls” (as the elderly are affectionately called) of Moletji for attending in numbers to have this dialogue on issues that affect them.

She also encouraged them to continue doing so. Issues looked into during the dialogue were; challenges in raising grandchildren, contributing factors of elderly abuse, advantages and disadvantages of residential care and community-based care, and the importance of the active aging program.
