MPAC visits water supply project in Molemole East area

The Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) was doing an oversight visit of the Sephala, Mokopu, Makwetja (Mokomene) Water Supply at Ramokgopha under Molemole Municipality. The project visit was held on 17 September 2020 led by Chairperson Cllr Paulina Makgato.

MPAC was assessing progress on implementation of the project in the Molemole East area which is valued at R91 million. The project scope of work include construction of two concrete reservoirs, boreholes, pump house, pumping main pipeline, gravity main pipeline, reticulation pipes, isolation valves and yard connections.

Progress on the implementation of the project on Contract A is 100% complete, Contract B completion is estimated at 92% with Contract C at 54%. The completed Contract A is  already supplying water to the community. Whereas on Contract B the operational testing of completed infrastructure is ongoing.

There are five boreholes functional with construction of concrete reservoir structure complete and minor works outstanding. The construction of the Inlet,Outlet Scour pipe-works and overflow chambers are in progress. The project has created 78 work opportunitiies.

The estimated completion period of the project had to be reviewed due to the national lockdown. MPAC was satisfied to see work in progress and indicated that the contractor should work with speed but not compromise quality to ensure that the project is completed and there is a sustained water supply as expected by the community.
