Executive Mayor Cllr John Mpe accompanied the MEC of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Mr Basikopo Makamu on his visit to the family of a flood victim at Moletjie Ga-Rapitsi in Polokwane today.
One member of the family drowned while attempting to cross a flooded river. “The provincial government extends heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives and friends. I urge people to exercise caution when they cross rivers or streams where water is above knee-level.” the MEC said.
Mpe thanked CDM Disaster Management team for their prompt response to the incident. “We thank all officials for moving swiftly to come and assist the family. Let us continue to monitor this Tropical Eloise Cyclone. We also remind our people to call 0800 666 777 for any disaster they encounter” Mayor said.
