The Executive Mayor Cllr Mamedupi Teffo concluded a three days Organisational Strategic Planning Session and District Lekgotla with a commitment to act on resolutions taken during the session held on Friday, 05 May 2023 at Forever Resorts in Bela Bela.
In closing the session, the Executive Mayor acknowledged that the session has, “enriched our planning in consolidating inputs we received from our stakeholders in reviewing their service delivery needs during the IDP sessions”.
“I am pleased with the path and direction we have resolved to take in moving our District forward. We have reflected elaborately on the status quo, on what happened, and what might have been; we identified strong and weak points. What is left now is a burden of implementation, supported by resources and budget, ” said Executive Mayor.
She added that responsibility now shifts to management structures to implement our respective IDPs and SDBIPs. “But they cannot succeed without our support, guidance and the political will of us, the councillors”.
“We therefore expect effective and decisive leadership from our councillors in supporting the implementation of projects and resolving any tension that might arise between Project Steering Committees and communities, so that the contractors can do their work without hindrance by those who demand to benefit unduly from projects, ” emphasized the Executive Mayor.
She further indicated,” we are pleased that we have resolved to monitor projects and ensure that projects are implemented as per the specifications and agreed timeframes. This will enable us to improve our project management and ensure 100% expenditure of allocated funds to projects that are planned, registered, implemented, and avoid forfeiting any portion of the grants to the National Treasury,” said the Executive Mayor.
All stakeholders committed to working together to accelerate service delivery.
