Capricorn District Municipality is engaged in a process of renaming the Lepelle-Nkumpi Fire Station. The renaming intentions were announced by the Executive Mayor during State of the District Address in May 2017. The municipality has to engage with various stakeholders to ensure that the renaming process is followed to the later.
The municipality inted to rename the Lepelle-Nkumpi Fire Station to Sefako Makgato Fire Station. As part of ensuring processes are followed accordingly, the Executive Mayor, Cllr John Mpe today visiting the family of the late Sefako Makgatho, the 2nd President of ANC who hails from Ga-Mphahlele in Lepelle-Nkumpi to present the matter.
“CDM is here to meet with the family Foundation to announce the district’s intention to rename the Lepelle-Nkumpi Fire Station to “Sefako Makgatho Fire Station”, said the Executive Mayor. These was part of the consultative process for the approval of the name. It was also indicated that plans were also underway to reconstruct the Lebowakgomo Stadium which should be named as “Sefako Makgatho Sports Complex”. The sefako family came in numbers to meet the Executive Mayor and his entourage.
