CDM Command Council held second meeting

The Capricorn District Municipality Mayoral Command Council held its second command team meeting on Covid19 on 07 April 2020 at CDM Council Chamber. The meeting was chaired by the Executive Mayor Cllr John Mpe with other Mayors from the four local municipalities namely, Blouberg, Lepelle-Nkumpi, Molemole and Polokwane. The main focus of the meeting was to keep track on the covid19 compliance that feed to the Premiers Command Team that seats every Wednesdays.

The following progress was reported:
– About 30 Water Jojo tanks delivery
– Waste management and cleaning of environment continuing
– Monitoring of spaza shops and food quality
– Tracing of covid19 infections
– Closing of non-compliance shops and businesses
– Distribution of sanitizers, masks and hand gloves

The command council visited a centre for the homeless at Polokwane Show Ground to monitor the situation of homeless people. The centre had about 41 homeless people some of whom were mentally disturbed.

“This courses chaos in the centre. They even beat others. We took one to Mankweng hospital and he was released within 72 hours” Conny said.

The centre proposed that there should be a separation of homeless people from mentally disturbed homeless. “We think there was an oversight. You can’t mix the two. We are not trained to deal with mental illness people. Let the centre be divided into 2 to accommodate mental illness. I experienced some beatings from one of them” she said.

The matter was to be elevated to Provincial Command Council chaired by Premier.
