IN honoring Mandela’s legacy of selfless service to humanity, Capricorn District Municipality partnered with Molemole Municipality & businesses to spend a day making a difference in children’s lives at Nthabiseng Creche and Isibindi Drop-In Centre.
The District Municipality was giving back to children at Nthabiseng Creche and Isibindi Drop-In Centre on 26 July 2019 at Nthabiseng Township in Molemole Municipality. The municipality led by the Acting Executive Mayor Cllr Jara Masubelele joined the world in remembrance and embracing the caring legacy of Tata Madiba towards children and those less fortunate.
This year 2019, the focus of Mandela Day celebration was on Early Childhood Development as it had earmarked to assist the Isibindi Drop on Centre which has been linked to Nthabiseng Creche. The drop in centre catered for almost 200 learners up to the age of eighteen. The learned go to the drop in centre after school to do homework’s, sports training, play educational games and have lunch.
The district municipality received donations from various business in the form of food parcels, educational toys, sanitary towels, paints, tyres, children educational posters, sporting equipments for netball, volleyball and soccer which included balls, nets and poles.
In addition, corrugated iron and planks to erect cooking area for the drop in centre were also donated and the cooking area erected. Sanitary towels were donated to girls at Nthabiseng Secondary School.
The month of July on the South African calendar is known as Mandela Month, Nelson Mandela was the first black democratically elected president of the Republic of South Africa and was born on 18 July 2019. Mandela died on 5 December 2013 at the age of 95 after suffering from a prolonged respiratory infection.
