Capricorn District Municipality in partnership with Gender Links is running a five day training programme on Life Skills and Entrepreneurship, and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights workshop. The two workshops are running parallel, as part of the aftercare support for the recognition of Capricorn District Municipality as a Centre of Excellence in gender mainstreaming by Gender Links. The workshops started running from 10 December and will end on 14 December 2018 at Jacaranda Lodge in Polokwane.
The life skills workshop is targeting survivors of Gender Based Violence whereas the Sexual Reproductive Health Rights workshop targets Social Workers and Care Workers of the Victim Empowerment Centres (VEPs) in the District.
The programme includes the ‘I Stories’, where survivors share their stories as part of a healing process. The scourge of Gender Based Violence can leave a person with scars for life. These scars tells of a bleak tale of life in agony. The menace of these scars remain visible even years after it happened.
These are realities which we all have to face and live with for the rest of our life. It is a story shared with pain and a cry to put an end to it. The workshop also provide counselling on side as these stories shared triggers emotions with an excruciating pain.
