Capricorn District Municipality together with the provincial Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) have embarked on a programme to visit the Thusong Service Centres in the district. The programme commenced on 24 June 2020 at Eldorado Thusong Service Centre in Blouberg Municipality.
During the visit the team checked if the centre was operational and assess the kind of intervention required during the Covid-19 lockdown period for people to be able to access some of the services.
Thusong Service Centre is a one-stop centre where services are offered in an integrated manner, which allows people to access services at their door step.
It was established that the centre was offering services from various government institutions such as SASSA, Home Affairs, Education, Health Centre, SAPS, Social Development and Municipal Services.
The centre already follows some of the Covid-19 protocols such as hand sanitizing and temperature screening as people enter the premises and the buildings too.
The centre has also commenced with the planning phase of the process of renovating the old building. The team will visit other centres including Moletji, Botlokwa, and Festus Mothudi.
