DEPARTMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES
The department has the strategic objectives to provide affordable, clean and potable water according to RDP standards to 100 percent of the population by 2015, provide sanitation service to 100 percent of the population by 2015, ensure operations and maintenance of District water and waste water schemes for prevention of unplanned interruptions, achieve 90 percent compliance of drinking water systems to SANS 241 by 2015 and achieve 70 percent compliance of wastewater treatment works effluent to General Effluent Quality standards by 2015
Integrated Development Planning (IDP) priority areas are sanitation planning & development, water planning & development, water operation & maintenance and water quality management.
